This exciting multi-city program allows students the opportunity to study in three unique areas of Australia. Over the course of the 4-month program students will live and study in Perth, Tasmania, and Melbourne, as well as travel to such locations as Rottnest Island, Nambung National Park, Port Arthur, and Healsville Sanctuary. This program is limited to 24 students who will live and travel together as a group throughout the semester.

COURSES
The History of Indigenous Australia: This course explores the initial human settlement of Sahul (Greater Australia) from the earliest colonization down to the beginning of the Holocene period 10,000 years ago, when rising sea levels separated New Guinea and Tasmania from mainland Australia.
Environmental Studies: Wilderness & Sustainable Development: This course focuses on conservation of natural and cultural values, as well as their use for nature-based tourism. Major themes are conservation management; changing concepts of national parks; conservation of human and cultural values in natural areas; cultural heritage; tourism management & education; and technical services, just to name a few.
Economy in Modern China: China's modernization will launch it into global market dominance in the 21st century, perhaps
overtaking the United States by 2030. This unit investigates the path taken by China to reach its current status, and looks ahead
at its potential to become a global superpower. Topics: China's economic policies; economic growth; labour markets; foreign trade
and investment; foreign exchange and financial markets; manufacturing industries; post-WTO economic reforms; multinational
business experiences.
Chinese Business: The unit introduces Chinese business culture with reference to Chinese philosophical and cultural attitudes
as they apply to business conduct, in particular to Guanxi. The unit also involves case studies in management, advertising,
marketing, finance as well as industry in China.
Optional: The Edge of the Outback: This subject consists of a Photographic journey exploring a regional Australian outback landscape using the mediums of Photography, Printmaking and Multimedia. The workshop is designed to develop the students’ visual thinking and to introduce them to individual visual problem solving related to the media. The expected cost for this 3-week course is $2,000. |
