Summer Program: European Art Program


PROGRAM PROGRAM CODE PRICE DATES
Summer 2005 SUART $4,000 May 27 - July 2
Eligibility: This program is open to all levels.
Students must have a 2.5 GPA.

U.S. Credits: 8 semester credits credits per semester


The ASA summer art program is a unique opportunity to study art in four of Europe's most artistically rich cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, and Florence. The program consists of two classes, both of which are 200 level art courses.

The first course, "Study Tour: Art in the Museums of Europe", will involve visits to museums in Madrid (Prado Museum, Thyssen Bornemisza Museum, Reina Sofia Museum), Barcelona (Picasso Museum, Modern Art Museum, Gaudi's works), Florence (Uffizzi, l'Accademia), and Paris (Louvre Museum, Pompidou Museum, D'Orsay Museum).

The second course, "The Artist's Sketchbook", allows students of all levels to investigate fundamental drawing techniques with a focus on experimental watercolor through the sketchbook.

Included in the price of the program are the following:

- Two 4 credit courses
- Official transcript from Framingham State College
- Room (double or triple) in Madrid, Florence, Barcelona, and Paris
- Flights from Madrid to Florence, Florence to Barcelona, Barcelona to Paris, and Paris to Madrid
- Health insurance
- Airport pick-up in Madrid upon arrival
- All entrance fees at museums

Not included in the program price are:

- Meals
- Roundtrip airfare from the U.S. to Madrid
- Art supplies (estimated at $200)

May 29 - Tour Madrid
May 30 - June 3 - Classes in Madrid
June 4 - 5 - Free weekend in Madrid
June 6 - 7 - Classes in Madrid
June 8 - Fly to Florence. Free afternoon.
June 9 - 11 - Classes in Florence
June 12 - Fly to Barcelona. Free afternoon.
June 13 - 15 - Classes in Barcelona
June 16 - Fly to Paris. Free afternoon.
June 17 - 19 - Classes in Paris
June 20 - Fly to Madrid. Free afternoon.
June 21 - Free day.
June 22 - 25 - Classes in Madrid
June 26 - Free day
June 27 - 30 - Classes in Madrid
July 1 - Final in Madrid
July 2 - End of program. Students may fly home or travel in Europe.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PROGRAM REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 8 STUDENTS
