La Alberca is a small rural town near Salamanca. It is largely untouched and unrenovated from the 18th century, and features an 18th century gothic church, The Church of the Assumption, and also an eclectic town square, which to this day is the center of the town's culture. Many of the town's houses are constructed much in the same way they have been for hundreds of years. Las Batuecas is a valley close to La Alberca. Going to Las Batuecas is a great way to see the natural beauty of the country of Spain. There are monestaries and shrines, but also many other attractions, such as Las Batuecas river, plants and animals such as Golden Eagles, Black Vultures, the ibex, roe deer and the lynx. There are also many prehistoric rock paintings in the area, although access to them can be rather difficult.
