ASA students in Paris study at the Institut de Langue et de Culture
Françaises (ILCF), a division of the Institut Catholique de Paris.
While founded by the Catholic church, the university is now quite
religiously and ethnically diverse.
The Institut Catholique de Paris was founded in central Paris in
1875 and currently enrolls 6,000 students, 2,000 of which are
international students from over 70 different countries. Most
international students study at the Institut de Langue et de Culture
Françaises (ILCF), the language division of the university which
was founded in 1948.
The ILCF is accredited by the French Ministry of Education,
Higher Education and Research, Common European Framework
of Reference for Languages (CEF), European Credits (ECTS),
L’Office National de Garantie, EduFrance, Socrates/Erasmus,
MICEFA, CSN, CREPUQ, Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau,
and the Louvre Museum.
The campus is ideally located in the 6th Arrondissement in central
Paris, near Luxembourg Park and the Saint-Sulpice and Saint-
Germain-des-Près Metro stations. The 6th Arrondissement is on
the South bank of the river Seine and was once where artists such
as Delacroix and Manet got together. It is known as a charming
area of the city, thanks to a large number of cafés, clubs, pubs,
and shops.
ASA students will live with host families within Paris and will have
a site director who will help them learn the city, the Parisian way of
life, and take them on excursions outside of Paris. There will also
be activities planned within Paris to help students get to know the
city.
While ASA students will take classes only with other international
students, there are plenty of opportunities to not only meet
students from all over the world, but also full-time students at the
Institut Catholique de Paris. Students who want to meet French
students can set-up language exchanges or frequent the many
cafes and pubs around the university.
