Leeds Castle, four miles south east of Kent, England dates back to 1119. The castle was first used as a royal palace in 1278. King Edward 1 of England and Queen Eleanor of Castile were the first royal tenants. Since then it has had a rich history and has avoided destruction several times, including during the English Civil War. Nowadays, the castle is a tourist destination, and it's grounds host an aviary, a maze, a grotto and even a museum of dog collars.
