At Griffith College Dublin, classes or courses are called "modules." An undergraduate degree program is called a "course." GCD offers courses in several areas, and each course has a set curriculum of modules.

The curriculum is divided into 3 or 4 Levels (sometimes called Phases or Stages).

Level 1 = freshman year. Level 1 modules generally have no pre-requisites. Roughly equivalent to 100-level.
Level 2 = sophomore year. May require pre-requisites from Level 1. Roughly equivalent to 200-level.
Levels 3/4 = junior/senior year. Students must have the necessary pre-requisites for this level. Levels 3/4 are roughly equivalent to 300 and 400-level.

All modules are worth 4 semester credits (equivalent of 6 quarter units). Students are expected to take 4 modules per semester. With special permission, some students may take 5 modules. All modules are subject to change.

All students MUST get a total of 8 modules approved by their academic advisor, in case of changes in module availability. That way, if a module is full or cancelled, or if 2 of the modules you want to take meet at the same time, you'll already have back-ups that you know your school will accept. When you pre-register for modules (this happens after you're accepted), you will have to list a total of 8 possible modules on your registration form, in order of preference. Griffith College will not process your registration unless you list a total of 8 modules.
