Language Eligibility: open to all levels of Spanish. -Beginner level is for students who have not taken Spanish before. -Intermediate level must have completed at least 2 semesters or 3 quarters of college level Spanish. -Advanced level must have completed at least 4 semesters or 6 quarters of college level Spanish. For additional eligibility requirements such as minimum GPA, click here. Total contact hours: 80 per summer session. 15 contact hours = 1 semester credit; 10 contact hours = 1 quarter unit. Possible U.S. Credits: 5-6 semester credits per summer session Final transcript is issued by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Classes are taken with other American and foreign students. |

Universidad Complutense de Madrid - Course Offerings (Summer)
This program is for all levels of Spanish. The aim of the Madrid Summer Program at the Universidad Complutense is to initiate and develop the knowledge of Spain and Spanish culture in all its aspects. This is an intensive Spanish language program. Students will take a placement exam on the first day of class, which will determine their level placement. The month-long course will consist of four classes:
- Spanish Grammar (20 contact hours)
- Practice of Communicative Skills (20 contact hours)
- Written Comprehension and Expression (20 contact hours)
- Oral Comprehension and Expression (20 contact hours)
Instruction is given in three different levels: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced, separated into several further sections within each level. Extensive use will be made of the Language Laboratory in the lower levels.

Optional Spanish Culture Lectures for Intermediate and Advanced Levels
After the Spanish language classes are over for the day, students may take optional Spanish Culture lectures. The lectures offered are:- Spain in the 20th century
- Flamenco Music and Culture
- Keys to Spanish Contemporary Culture
- 20th Century Spanish Theatre
- Sociological Aspects of Present Day Spain
