Barcelona, Spain - Summer 2010

Summer 2010 BSSU $5,100 May 26 - July 14

Eligibility: This program is open to all levels. Students must have graduated from high school and be at least 17 years of age. (If 17, you must turn 18 during the program.)
Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

*Students choosing Option 2 or 3 (described below) may take an additional elective for an additional fee.

Total contact hours: 45, 90 or 135* per summer session. 15 contact hours = 1 semester credit. 10 contact hours = 1 quarter unit.
Possible U.S. Credits: 3, 6 or 9* semester credits per summer session.



The Barcelona UAB Summer program classes take place at the Sarrià Campus of the UAB.
This brand new campus of the UAB made its debut in January of 2009. Located in an affluent financial and educational district of Barcelona called Sarrià, it is only a 5-minute train ride from Plaza Catalunya by the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat.

The final transcript for this program is issued by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Maximum of 20 students per class for the Spanish Language classes.
Maximum of 15 students per class for the electives.


Students who enroll in the UAB Summer program have 3 options:

Option 1: Students may take one 3-credit Spanish language class.
Option 2: Students may take one 3-credit Spanish language class and one 3-credit elective for a total of 6 semester credits.
Option 3: Students may take 1 or 2, 3-credit electives and no Spanish class for a total of 3 or 6 semester credits.
*Students choosing Option 2 or 3 may take an additional elective for an additional fee. Please contact ASA for detailed pricing.
(Please note: Course selection will be more limited for students taking 2-3 electives, due to scheduling conflicts of certain electives.)

Please note: There is a fee of 50 euro if you drop a 45-hour class, and a fee of 100 euro if you drop a 90-hour class. The electives are 45 hours and the Spanish language courses are 90 hours. If you drop a class and replace it with an equivalent class, there is NO fee.

Level A - Beginner Level
Spanish Language, Level A1 - Taught in Spanish
Spanish Language, Level A2 - Taught in Spanish

Level B - Intermediate Level
Spanish Language, Level B1.1 - Taught in Spanish
Spanish Language, Level B1.2 - Taught in Spanish
Spanish Language, Level B2.1 - Taught in Spanish
Spanish Language, Level B2.2 - Taught in Spanish

Elective Classes (in English) - 45 contact hours (3 semester credits)

Electives are taught in English, unless otherwise noted. Elective course offerings are subject to change.

Spanish for Business (Taught in Spanish. Requires minimum 3 semesters of college Spanish.)
