Summer Program for All Levels
The aim of the Madrid Summer Program at the Universidad Complutense is
to initiate and develop the knowledge of Spain and Spanish culture in all
its aspects. This is an intensive Spanish language program. Students will take a placement exam on the first day of class, which will determine their level placement. The course will consist of four classes:
Spanish Grammar (20 contact hours)
Practice of Communicative Skills (20 contact hours)
Written Comprehension and Expression (20 contact hours)
Oral Comprehension and Expression (20 contact hours)
Instruction is given in three
different levels: Beginning, Intermediate
and Advanced, separated into several further sections within each level. Extensive use will be made of the
Language Laboratory in the lower levels.

Optional Spanish Culture Lectures for Intermediate and Advanced Levels
After the Spanish language classes are over for the day, students may take
optional Spanish Culture lectures. The lectures offered are:

- Flamenco Music and
Culture
- Keys to Spanish
Contemporary Culture
- 20th Century Spanish Theatre
- Sociological Aspects of
Present Day
Spain
- Spanish for Business
NOTE: Students who have attended ALL of the Spanish Culture lectures may receive credit for this
upon completion of an exam.
