Regent's College is divided into five different schools, each with a different focus. One of these 5 schools is the Regent's American College London, and it is the university of choice in London for over 40 major American universities.

"A campus with a wealth of opportunities," best describes Regent's College. Not only is it one of the few colleges that has a campus in central London, but its prime location also makes it easy for students to explore one of the world's most exciting cities. Baker Street Tube station, which is only a 5-minute walk from campus, links students to all of London?s major sites and attractions. At the same time, Regent?s Park surrounds the campus with its gardens, streams, trees, walking/jogging paths, and every shade of green. It can be a student?s ?oasis? in the midst of Europe?s largest city.

Regent's College provides both an international experience and a stimulating environment in which to live and study. Students at Regent's College come from all over the world and a range of educational backgrounds. An average undergraduate student body will represent about 42 different countries.

In order to fully appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of the Regent's College campus, you have to see it. It comes as a great surprise that such a tranquil and green place exists in the heart of London. The campus was built in 1913 and opened the same year by Queen Mary. It was part of the University of London until 1985. The classrooms line the quadrangle at the heart of the campus, which is surrounded by green lawns, tennis and basketball courts, and the beautiful ornamental gardens and lakes of Regent's Park. Nearby is Regent's Canal and some of the finest Georgian architecture in London. Located in the center of London, the campus is perfectly situated, with all of the city?s cultural and social attractions at your disposal.

When students want to get away from campus, they simply walk 5 minutes to the Baker Street Tube stop and can go anywhere in London. Most of the major areas of London are within a 15-minute Tube ride, so nothing is ever very far away.

Baker Street, known the world over as the home of Sherlock Holmes, along with nearby Marylebone Road and Marylebone High Street, have shops of all kinds. So, for the essentials, students don't need to walk much more than 5-10 minutes from campus. There are pharmacies, supermarkets, hair salons, pastry shops, boutiques, pubs, restaurants, and even a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop for those who long for something from home.

Connected to Reid Hall is the large Refectory (dining hall), offering a wide selection of dishes from around the world. The menu changes every day and accommodates vegetarian and other diets. Open from early in the morning until early evening, the Refectory is a popular meeting place for students. The Refectory also remains open between most meals, so you can also stop to grab a take-away snack.

The newly renovated Regent's College Sports Grill & Bar provides evening entertainment and has a large screen television, pool table, jukebox, table football and video games. You?ll find students and faculty alike enjoying this pub after a long day of classes. Parties, karaoke, televised sporting events, pub quiz and many other social events are held regularly in the Sports Bar. You can also get made-to-order burgers and other grill items freshly made.

In the fall of 2007, Regent's College debuted its newest dining option: The Brasserie. The elegant and tranquil Regent?s Brasserie boasts an exciting, innovative menu, serving dishes from around the world. An exciting tapas menu and a selection of fine wines and spirits is served during the evening.

Located in the college's brand new Darwin Building, the Student Services Department aims to help you with everything you need to know about living in London and get the most out of life in this exciting city. They can help you find bargain theatre tickets and give you up-to-date information on the latest theatre productions, exhibitions and gallery events, as well as material covering everything from ethnic restaurants to where the nearest golf courses can be found. Those of you interested in traveling can borrow a guidebook from their vast collection, to learn about destinations in England and the rest of Europe. Sports and camping equipment can also be rented from the Centre.

Students are encouraged go to the Student Services Department to find counselling, pastoral care, an interfaith prayer room, photography darkroom, table tennis room, meeting room for clubs and societies, and a common room with comfy seating, flat screen TV, and WiFi.

The Student Services Office arranges regular trips to cities and sites of historical and cultural interest including Bath, Stonehenge, Paris, Dublin, Edinburgh and a popular pony-trekking in Wales trip. Details on forthcoming trips and activities on campus are announced in the Center's newsletter, Inner Circle.

Student Services provide students with opportunities to develop and nurture their creative skills. A music room equipped with drum kit, electric guitars, bass guitars, keyboard and PA system is at the students? disposal. There are also sound proof facilities for amplified instruments (amplified music and drums to be played after close of official college business). A separate piano room is also available for students' use.

Regent's College has the luxury of being located in Regent's Park, which is the largest outdoor sporting area in London. The college campus also provides the following facilities: gym, fitness/dance studio, tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball court, and sports equipment for hire (e.g. tennis rackets).

The fitness/dance studio is used for a wide variety of classes, including circuits, yoga, pilates, aerobics, martial arts, fencing and boxercise. The studio also accommodates acting classes and performance. Gym membership is not required to participate in classes, but most classes carry a small fee. Class availability changes each semester, based on student preferences and requests.

The college is a member of SESSA (Southern England Student Sports Association) and many of our sports teams compete with other universities and colleges on a regular basis. Regent?s College has a very successful football (soccer) team (three times winner of the SESSA League) as well as strong teams in basketball, volleyball and tennis.

Students may also choose to join the University of London Student Union and International Student House, located 10 minutes from campus. Both of these offer a wide range of sporting opportunities and expand the options available to Regent's College students.

A state-of-the-art Fitness Centre with 22 stations is located on the Regent's College campus, providing ideal surroundings for keep fit enthusiasts. It is open daily, and membership costs only £40 (approx. $85) per semester. Students wishing to join for a shorter time period can also talk to the gym manager about a lower rate. You'll find cardio machines (all equipped with cardio theatre), weight stations, a free weights area and locker room.

Students reside in Reid Hall, the stately north wing of Regent's College looking out over the lake and park that surround the campus. Reid houses 220 students and is connected directly to the college Refectory (dining hall). The majority of rooms in Reid Hall have free wireless Internet. Reid also has a computer lab with laptop hookups, a kitchenette on each floor and a common TV/DVD room where students often gather for film nights. A double occupancy room is included with the ASA program, and rooms are equipped with 2 twin beds, 2 desks, 2 nightstands, lamps, and 2 wardrobes for storage. A limited number of triple rooms and single rooms are available; when all double rooms have been taken, students are automatically placed in triples as availability allows. Single rooms, which are difficult to obtain because of the small number and high demand, cost an additional $1,100 per semester (price approx. and subject to change). Any student wanting a single room is urged to apply at least 7 months prior to the start date of the program; even then, you may be placed on a wait list for a single.

The level of security at the Halls of Residence offers peace of mind to both students and parents. A college representative is on duty at the main reception desk 24 hours a day, and entrance and exit to/from any part of the college, including to the Residence Halls, are controlled via a swipe card system. Each student is issued his/her own swipe card upon arrival, which also serves as your student ID and meal card.

Keeping in touch with friends and family will be a breeze, since the campus offers Internet access almost anywhere. Students with laptops can connect to the wireless network in Reid Hall or at other hotspots across campus. There are also an abundance of additional computer labs for those who do not bring a laptop.

The Information Technology Center contains 225-networked PCs and Apple Macintosh machines, running Microsoft Office and providing Internet access and other networked resources. Four teaching rooms are equipped with presentation facilities and programs using the most up-to-date computer tools, such as web and media production. Five open access rooms provide general computing facilities seven days a week and staff are on hand throughout opening hours to give you expert advice. A large number of business software applications, including SPSS, EQL, Macromedia Developer, Chief Executive, Test Manager and Filemaker Pro are available. Induction workshops are arranged for all new students to familiarize them with the equipment. Additional services include advance PC booking to reserve machines during heavy assignment periods, color printing and scanning facilities. The IT Center is linked to the JANET network, connecting you to every other major university library in the UK, giving you free access to their online catalogues. Regent's College has its own intranet site and both e-mail and Internet access are available on any PC or Mac computer in the open access areas of the IT Center or the Library.

The College Bookshop, located around the corner from the Refectory, has everything you need for class. Most recommended textbooks are stocked on-site, or can be ordered at relatively short notice.
