Any program can get you to a country and register you at a
university. It takes a certain kind of program, however, to provide
you with all the tools necessary to ensure that your experience is
both memorable and fulfilling. That's why ASA provides our England
students with:
• Housing on your UK campus, in the Halls of
Residence • Guided excursions to other cities within England
• Personal attention to any academic goals you may have •
Health insurance • A cell phone with free incoming calls when
you're in the UK • And much, much more!
Being Prepared
We understand that being
prepared is important to a successful experience. That's why our
team has labored over the years to refine our programs. We help you
prepare with:
- a detailed orientation guide mailed to you
prior to departure that will prepare you for studying abroad in the
UK - a detailed on-site orientation program when you arrive in
your host country - an experienced staff willing to answer all of
your questions
Seeing The
Country
Our excursions are designed to help you see some
of the major historical and cultural sites of England. At many of
the sites you will have a guided tour, yet will also be left with
plenty of time to explore on your own. We have both day trips to
different sites, as well as overnight stays at some of the further
locations (overnight trips included with London semester programs
only). All of the excursions are included in the cost of the
program, including the cost of the hotel and transportation. While
we encourage our students to participate in all of the excursions,
it is never a requirement.
Classes and
Housing
ASA London students reside and take classes at
Regent's College, located inside Regent's Park in central London, or
at London South Bank University, located in central London in the
Southwark neighborhood. Regent's attracts students from all over the
world, which means that you will not only get to see English life
firsthand, but will get to meet and hang out with other students
from all walks of life. The classes at Regent's are small and are
taught by full professors, not teaching assistants. Our students can
take classes in a wide variety of subjects.
London South Bank
University students get to integrate into a major public British
university, allowing them the opportunity to be fully immersed into
British culture. With a large variety of classes to choose
from, especially in Engineering, this is the perfect campus for
those who want to experience life as a British college
student.
ASA Oxford students reside and take classes at
Oxford Brookes University, which was ranked "Leading Modern
University" in England in the 2006 Sunday Times University
Guide. Students have the opportunity to take classes in an
extraordinarily wide range of subject areas, with both British
students and international students from all over the world, while
living in one of the world's most ancient and picturesque university
towns.
The ASA Staff
The ASA
team is a group of people who are well-traveled, experienced in
foreign education, always there to assist you and best of all, they
are people who have studied abroad themselves. We know what it's
like to move into a new city, in a new country, with a new language
and it's this first-hand experience that makes us true professionals
when it comes to studying abroad.
We want to see all of our
students leave our program feeling that they have had the best
experience of their lives. For some of our students, this will be
their first time outside of the United States and their first
exposure to a new culture. We recognize that this is not always an
easy adjustment, so our orientations are designed to help take away
some of the surprise and guesswork that often leads to anxiety. No
question or request is too small, so please, call us toll-free at
(888) 845-4ASA with any question that you may have. We look forward
to speaking with you soon!
