FRENCH LANGUAGE & CIVILIZATION PROGRAM AT THE SORBONNE

Application Deadlines

Spring: October 1

Fall: June 1

Language Requirement: Open to all levels of French.

Additional Requirements: Minimum GPA 2.5. For complete requirements, please see the Eligibility section on this page.

Possible U.S. Credits: 12-15 semester credits. Students take 4-5 courses. Classes are taken with American and international students.

Cours de Langue et Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne: French Language and Civilization Courses at the Sorbonne

Students will take a placement test upon arrival to determine their language level (Beginner through Advanced). All students are required to take a French Language & Phonetics course, plus 3 or 4 elective lectures from the choices at that language level. Students will spend 2-4 hours in class per week for each course. Examples of elective lectures are:

-French Civilization and Literature
-History of French Art
-Approach to Current Affairs in France
-The Regions of France
-Myths & Modern Thought
