When is payment due?
For all ASA programs, full payment or verification of financial aid is due by the Forms & Payment Deadline listed on our Dates, Prices & Deadlines page.
After you’re accepted, you’ll receive a Billing Statement from ASA, which will show your balance due and payment due date(s).
If you plan to pay for the program using financial aid (thereby deferring payment until your financial aid is disbursed), ASA must receive ASA’s Financial Aid Verification Form (FAV), completed by your home institution’s Financial Aid Office. This will tell us how much financial aid you are going to receive.
Any portion of the program fees not covered by financial aid must be paid to ASA by the Forms & Payment Deadline.
If verification of financial aid cannot be provided by the Forms & Payment Deadline, we require a non-refundable $1,000 down payment in order to secure your space.
It will take your school’s Financial Aid Office at least 2 weeks to complete the FAV form, so be sure to contact them several weeks in advance of the Forms & Payment Deadline. A $500 Down Payment is required of all students within 2 weeks of being accepted to the ASA Madrid program. Should the applicant wish to withdraw before the beginning of the term, $300 of this deposit is refundable to the extent that ASA has not incurred tuition or other expenses on the student’s behalf. Once paid, it will be deducted from your balance due. Please note, this deposit cannot be deferred with financial aid.
Students wishing to live with a host family are required to submit an additional $500 Down Payment within 2 weeks of acceptance. This down payment is refundable before the beginning of the semester if ASA has not incurred housing expenses on the student’s behalf. Once paid, it will be deducted from your balance due. Please note, this Down Payment cannot be deferred with financial aid.
What are ASA’s payment options?
We accept the following payment methods:
- Personal check, cashier’s check or money order, made payable to Academic Studies Abroad and mailed to the address below.
- You can also pay your balance by e-check.
Refund Policy – ASA Semester and Academic Year Programs in Madrid
Students who withdraw from the program for any reason after the Forms & Payment Deadline but before the ASA program start date, will receive a full refund minus: Cancellation fee of $1,200, Down Payment(s), and any unrecoverable expenses.
Once the program has commenced, there are absolutely no refunds.
If the student has deferred payment or if payment/billing arrangements are made through his/her home institution, the student is still responsible for paying in full all cancellation fees and monies owed to ASA.
Fees are not transferable to other persons.
