Summer I Program: Spanish and Community Engagement

ICDS and Universidad Latina de Costa Rica offer a six-week service-learning program with a strong Spanish language and cultural immersion component, allowing students to improve their language skills as well as contribute to local community development.  This is an intensive Spanish instruction program, complemented by community work, field trips, and cultural activities which are integrated into the language course.

Spanish Language courses are leveled, and students are placed into an appropriate level following arrival in Costa Rica. Students will complete 90 contact hours in their Spanish Language course, and typically earn 4 U.S. semester credits. Students must have classes and credits pre-approved by their home institution. Available levels include:

Community Engagement placements will be assigned following arrival, based on a matching of interests and available projects/placements.
