Summer Program at Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB) – Bellaterra Campus

This ASA Barcelona summer program takes place at the main campus of the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB), called Bellaterra, just 35 minutes from Barcelona city center. The UAB Bellaterra campus is expansive and green, with 6 nature trails and ample sports facilities. ASA program housing is generally located in the Barcelona city center, making for an easy commute of about 35 minutes to Bellaterra. This allows students to enjoy the excitement of living in the city center, as well as a true university campus experience.

One of the biggest advantages of studying at the UAB Bellaterra campus is that ASA students can meet local Spanish students through the Tandem language exchange program and the UAB Buddy Program. Your assigned Spanish-speaking language partner can introduce you to the local culture and help you improve your Spanish!

The UAB Summer School at Bellaterra offers a variety of courses in English during two, 3-week summer sessions. Classes are held Monday through Friday. Students can enroll in one, 3-credit course per 3-week session. Students may attend one, 3-week session and complete 1 course, or you may enroll in both 3-week sessions and complete a total of 2 courses.

All students MUST have 2 alternate courses approved by their home institution, in addition to your top choices, in case of changes in course availability. That way, if a course is full or cancelled, you’ll have back-ups that your school will accept. Ex: If you plan to attend one, 3-week session and take 1 course, you must have a total of 3 different courses approved from that session. If you plan to attend both 3-week sessions and take 2 courses, you must have a total of 4 different courses approved – at least 2 courses from each 3-week session.

Course Offerings

All courses are worth 6 ECTS (3 U.S. semester credits).  2 ECTS = 1 U.S. semester credit.  (ECTS = European Credit Transfer System.)
