Summer and Semester Internship Opportunities with ASA
ASA is excited to offer internship opportunities in a number of our program locations! In most cases, an internship is taken in conjunction with your classes and is credit-bearing. Non credit-bearing and stand-alone internships are also available as well. All internships are unpaid.
Below you will find a list of our program locations that include internship opportunities. For further details about the specific opportunities in each location, please click the links given. Because the benefits of an internship extend beyond the classroom, please be aware that interns usually complete more work hours than the equivalent number of in-class hours per credit. (Ex: 45 contact hours equal 3 semester credits, while a 3-credit internship may require approximately 120-150 work hours.) That said, past ASA students who completed internships have wholeheartedly agreed that it was an extremely worthwhile experience that added depth to their study abroad experience and improved their resumes!
If at any time you have questions about our internship opportunities or the application process, please don’t hesitate to contact us at any time!

While taking summer or semester classes at Florence University of the Arts, ASA students have the option of completing a 3-credit Internship or Experiential Learning Project (ELP), the cost of which is included with your ASA program fees! Both an Internship and ELP give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a company, organization, or one of the many departments and outside partnerships of Florence University of the Arts. The main difference between the two is that an Internship generally takes place at outside companies or organizations and usually have an Italian language requirement from Low Intermediate to Advanced, depending on the placement. The vast majority of ELPs do not have an Italian language requirement and, therefore, are open to all applicants. Opportunities are available in a wide variety of fields such as Business, Communications, Marketing, Culinary Arts, Fashion, Journalism, Athletics, Tourism, Hospitality and Event Planning. As this internship is credit-bearing, you will be required to write periodic reports throughout the term. For additional details, as well as a list of available placements, please click here.
